Braised beef with apples

The slightly chilly weather is approaching, and we know there's little more comforting than a good stew or hot meal!

Plus, some of you may still have a few apples in the fridge... so today we're bringing you a recipe for braised beef with apples that's absolutely delicious!


This dish is delicious served with a bottle of our LE GRAND COTEAU red wine 🍷

 

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 onions, peeled and quartered
  • 675 g. (1 1/2 lb.) beef cubes
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 liter (4 cups) beef broth
  • 250 ml (1 cup) apple juice
  • 1 red bell pepper, cut into strips
  • 3 sprigs thyme
  • 6 apples, peeled and quartered
  • Salt and pepper

 

Instructions : 

 Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).

  1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan. Add onions and sauté over medium heat for 3 minutes.
  2. Add beef cubes and sauté for 5 minutes.
  3. Season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with flour and toss.
  4. Pour in stock and apple juice. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Stir in bell pepper, thyme and apples. Cover pan.
  5. Bake for 1 hour 30 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven and let stand 10 minutes before serving.

 

This recipe makes 4 servings. Preparation time: 15 minutes. Cooking time: 1h40 (+ 10 minutes rest).
