Butter flavoured with chives and maple

It's lobster season in Quebec!

What better accompaniment to this delight from the sea than a good flavored butter, simple to prepare and bursting with flavor? With the sugaring-off season barely behind us, many still have a bottle of maple syrup lying around in the pantry.

Here's a simple idea to make the most of it: a maple butter delicately flavored with lemon and chives. It's perfect for melting over hot lobster... or for your next brunch with family and friends!

What's more, your meal will be delicious accompanied by a good bottle of our La Côte Chardonnay.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb salted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (preferably golden for its delicate taste)
  • 1 teaspoon chives, chopped
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1 pinch of fleur de sel

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, combine softened salted butter, maple syrup, chopped chives, zest of 1/2 lemon and 1 pinch of fleur de sel.
  2. Spread on a sheet of parchment paper and form into a tight roll.
  3. Freeze.
  4. This flavored maple butter keeps for 2 weeks in the freezer.

This maple butter is the perfect touch to enhance your spring meals, from lobster to grilled vegetables. Easy to prepare, it can be stored in the freezer, ready to enhance your dishes in the blink of an eye. Try it now!
